Communal Tables

I am thinking of making a few changes to our home and get a bigger table to organize design workshops. I love the table that we have right now because it is my granny’s and it really is beautiful besides the emotional attachment that I have to it but it only fits 4 people.  I have been thinking of getting one of those really large ones, you know the communal tables like you see at Le Pain Quotidien that fit 10 people…or more?

I think of them as being those really cozy get together spots for a hot chocolate, a cafe latte with lots of foamy cream and organic bread with ricotta cheese and softly boiled eggs.  Just super duper cozy, imagining  family and friends seated around and chattering about the things that went on their lives the past day or week. That would be a riot!

I also envision them to hang out with a group of artistic women and do crafts and create beautiful things.  I love that they are very unpretentious and comfortable.  And preferably, I would like to have one that has a bit of a rough edge and organic feel to it.  If we decide to do that, we’d definitely will have to make some serious changes to the entire place though because right now living and dining room are gathered together in one room.  Which means, we’d also have to add to our ikea sofa set…hmm..I might have to start with a little visit a visit to the flea market soon and look for a table that is in need for a little TLC
